What State Is Your Skin In?

As an Arizona local you would think that we have to be at the top of the list of states with the most cases of skin cancer. Surprisingly this is not the case. Maybe we Arizonians just end all are time in doors in the AC or maybe not but here is a list of the top 20 states. This list was generated by Bluecross Blushield Association based on members with skin cancer reports.

The Top 20 States with the highest reported skin cancer rates:

  1. Florida 7.1%
  2. Washington 5.8%
  3. Connecticut 5.6%
  4. Maryland 5.3%
  5. Rhode Island 5.3%
  6. Vermont 5.3%
  7. North Carolina 5.2%
  8. New York 5%
  9. Massachusetts 5% 
  10. Colorado 5% 
  11. Arizona 5%
  12. Virgina 5%
  13. Deleware 4.8%
  14. Kentucky 4.7%
  15. Alabama 4.7%
  16. New Jersey 4.7%
  17. Georgia 4.7%
  18. West Virginia 4.5%
  19. Tennessee 4.5%
  20. South Carolina
This list might come off as a surprise and not quite what you would of though or expected. According to the American Cancer Society, Melanoma, A type of skin cancer is more common in the retiree communities. You are more likely to get skin cancer as your age increases.
